  • Follow the hotel pet policy. Try to get that information in advance of arrival.

  • You know your pet but the staff does not.  Consider taking a travel type kennel with you.

  • Clean up spilled and leftover pet food in your room.  If your pet has an accident the room or anywhere in the hotel, clean it immediately and let the hotel staff know right away so they can do a more thorough clean.

  • Tip the hotel staff $5-$10 if they walk your pet.

  • Remember to travel with your pet's favorite blanket and toys.

  • Some pets are afraid of elevators and some people are afraid to enter the elevator when they see your pet.  Be considerate of that and be sure you are in control of your pet.

  • Many room attendants are afraid to enter your room if they know your pet is there. Try to coordinate when they will be cleaning the room so you can be away during that time or at the least, be prepared to leave your room when the housekeeping staff arrive.

  • The guest in the room close by won't like to hear your pet after 9:00pm.

  • If the hotel employee is watching your pet, don't blame the hotel if your pet runs away.  It's a risk you have to be willing to take.

  • Check to see what pet amenities the hotel provides.

  • Travel with pet wipes and keep your pet paws as clean as possible.

  • If you will need pet sitting, ask for recommendations in advance.

  • Ask where pet walking parks/areas are in proximity to the hotel.

  • Don't leave you pet unattended in your room and more important, don't forget to take your pet with you when you check out!
